The Ship Inn is a traditional country pub with detached chalet accommodation in the beautiful village of Blaxhall, just 2 miles from Snape and 6 miles from the Suffolk Heritage Coast at Aldeburgh.

Midsummer Festival of Folk

Friday 16th: Camping – Field open from 4.00pm onwards at £5 per night for Hall Fund.
The Ship Inn will be open all day for food, drink, music and song.
8.00pm until late at the Ship Inn; A lively performance of Traditional Folk Song by the popular close harmony group ‘Sound Tradition’ with opportunities for invited locals and visitors between sets. Presented by Moose Rosser.
Saturday 17th: Ship Inn is open for breakfasts from 8.30pm.
10.30 – 12.00: Singing and Melodeon workshops, Ship Inn and Blaxhall Village Hall.
12.00 – 2.30pm: Music, Song & Dance in and around the Ship includes performance by Border Morris dancers ‘Pretty Grim’ and other Morris dance sides. Open session for music and song in and around the pub.
2.30 – 5.30pm: A performance of the best of Folk Music and song from the Nationally Renowned Mary Humphries and Anahata. There will be opportunities for floor singers and musicians during breaks and between sets.
5.30 – 8.00pm: Open Session for Music, Song & Dance in and outside the Ship.
8.00pm until late: A performance by Tony Hall with ‘Tin River’.
The inimitable Tony Hall is the very entertaining singer, songwriter, cartoonist and virtuoso of the melodeon.
Tin River with Skip Shipley (melodeon and vocals), Mim Barnes (whistles and vocals) and Marya Parker (guitar and vocals), combines instrumentals with accompanied and unaccompanied harmony singing. Their music comes from the traditions of England, Ireland and Scotland with occasional forays into French Canadian, French and American.
Sunday, 18th: Ship Inn open for breakfasts from 8.30pm.
10.30 – 12.00: Various workshops for music, song & dance.
12.30 onwards: ‘Fiddle my Box’ A very lively and entertaining performance from Ginnie, John and Ruff with invited guests.
PA system on the Terrace of the Pub, weather permitting, otherwise in the Tent in the pub grounds.
